Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim raised many eyebrows, not least from associates, when he joined DAP in August and was promptly named a vice-president of the party. The co-founder of the Malaysian chapter of Transparency International has no intention of being a token Malay presence in the multi-racial but Chinese-dominated party. He has found a new platform in the DAP to advocate transparency, accountability, justice and equality.

Senator T. Murugiah met MP Teresa Kok

Senator T. Murugiah met MP Teresa Kok

T Murugiah, the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister Office said he wants to determine if the report that RM5.80 is allocated for ISA (Internal Security Act) detainees for meals every day is enough after it was claimed by Teresa Kok, the Seputeh MP that her meals looked ‘almost like dog food). He said “If it is true, then it is definitely not enough especially with the price of goods going up. A detainee needs to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast would cost you at least RM2.50, while a good lunch would be a minimum RM3.50 and dinner RM3.50,” He added that “We want transparency. I’m quite serious about this and I don’t want this to be swept under the carpet. I’m not happy that this news has gone international. We don’t need to get permission from any ministry. We can just walk in, do the investigation and take immediate action. If you’re afraid to go to the police or the Anti-Corruption Agency, come to us,”

Senator T. Murugiah met Teresa Kok at around noon today.

Murugiah wanted to know Teresa’s first hand account of the poor quality food being offered to detainees.

Yummy? Fit for a Malaysian MP?

Yummy? Fit for a Malaysian MP?

Anakdesa – Woww…so cheap kah?  I am now seriously considering ordering my daily meals from these caterer. What a saving during this present economic situation. Maybe, as an austerity drive, the government should consider placing order from these caterer for all formal functions. A great saving for the country! Only maybe with the great savings, it can be utilise to subsidise the cost of fuel in the country! BUT don’t use it for cronies lahhh…or family members!

Oops….that is if you prepared to eat food that are fit for dogs lahh..!

This is AN INSULT TO MALAYSIAN MPS! Wonder what the world say about this? Whatever it is, surely the response by the minister concerned will just be the same – “MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS!”

(Updated 23Sept08 – The RM4.50 covers breakfast (60 sen), lunch (RM2) and dinner (RM1.90). NOT RM5.80 as earlier reported – TheStar )
