Terengganu can keep its 14 Mercedes Benzes bought for RM3.43mil recently but they can only be used for foreign dignitaries.
That was the decision reached by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Said.
“We said (to Ahmad) the important thing was that the Cabinet had decided that the state government should not use the cars for its executive councillors. ( The Star )
AnakDesa – Woww! The Terengganu state government must be having a lot of foreign dignitaries visiting the state! They must have overlooked KL and flew direct to Terengganu. 14 cars to serve 14 dignitaries at one time? I guess the state must have won their bid to stage the next ASEAN meeting or OIC meetings!!!! Kick aside KL as they are now capable of transporting the foreign dignitaries with pride in a brand new merc around Terengganu. At whose expenses? The rakyat? I do hope that the state government has got no dignitaryies from Germany or else they would be laughing at how great their cars are compared to the local Perdana.
Now that the PM has said that the merc are meant for foreign dignitaries only. So the Exco now have to buy Perdana v6 again lah! (another expenses) Or else they have to walk or bike their way to work! That may be good, save expenses on petrol! Save the rakyat’s money!
I bet to the last dollar in my wallet that the merc would be used by the Exco! When asked why they defied the PM directive…the answer would probably be “why let the merc rot in the parking lot…may as well use them”. Politicians are politician! They can twist their words to fancy their greed!
Looks like this is going to be a precedent whereby spend the rakyat money, make them as your own and if the Malaysian make noise…go see the the PM and the DPM…everything will be CASE CLOSED!
Now the BIG question for the PM and the DPM is, what happens if the state government defy their instructions and start using the merc as if their own? Will the PM protect them and take the rakyat for a ride again with all kind of excuses and said the case is closed!
