KUALA LUMPUR: Long known as the “bad boys,” Ah Longs are now finding themselves at the receiving end of the stick.
The startling disclosure came from MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Michael Chong, who said that Ah Longs were being victimised by a group which claimed to help borrowers. ( more.. )
AnakDesa – Well I guess it is high time that such ‘organisation’ as Datuk Michael Chong put it comes in to protect the victims of the ‘Ah Long’. These Ah Longs intimidation tactics have gone too far and caused a lot of fear among the borrower’s family. I am not talking about fairness to the borrowers, it is their very own fault in the first place to approached the Ah Longs. It’s their immediate family, who has got nothing to do or knowledge about the money borrowed. Some used the money for gambling and end-up owing the Ah Longs tens or hundreds of thousands. When they fled, it is the family that actually became victim of the Ah Longs. That’s ridiculous and unfair to the family.
Even some of the Ah Longs are acting getting paid from some licensed moneylenders and likewise some of the licensed moneylenders are actually camouflaging behind the licence obtained and operate as an illegal Ah Longs to get better returns.
These Ah Longs have become very aggressive and so far the authority doesn’t seems to be doing anything much to curb their aggressiveness.
With the so-called ‘organisation’, it is high time that aggressiveness vs aggressiveness! Important is to help the family of the borrowers.
