Parliamentary Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail has submitted an urgent motion of “no confidence” in the PM Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi yesterday 10/07/2008 on behalf of the opposition party Pakatan Rakyat (PR).
“The people are facing several massive crisis as the fuel, food and essential good prices are increasingly burdening them. The people’s confidence is now fretted because of the worsening situation in the police, attorney-general, judiciary body, the crime rate and corruption. Therefore, we are confident that the motion should be debated in the House,” she said.
At the same time the PM made an announcement that he would hand over the premiership and UMNO leadership to his deputy Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak in June 2010. Was these 2 actions had any connection? From my personal point of view, I would say that the announcement made by the PM is to ensure that he would get all BN MPs to support him and crush the “no confidence” vote to against his leadership. It is public knowledge that there have been dissatisfaction amongst the lawmakers over his leadership even within the ruling party BN as shown by the action taken by SAPP, one of the component party in the BN. SAPP had earlier wanted to pass the above motion but due to the time factor or other reasons best known to them, the motion was never tabled.
Should the above motion be accepted by the Dewan Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia to be tabled next week, it will create history in the Malaysian politic as the first “no confidence” vote on a PM. However the submission of the motion itself has created history as in the 50 years of independence no such motion had ever been been submitted.
What has made the people lost their confidence on the PM? Is he really not capable? Or have his ministers or ‘machais’ overshadowed him and making/giving bad advices? Or is the PM the victim of the present global situation of fuel and food prices?
There seems to be more questions then answers!
But whatever it is, the people only wants PEACE, GOOD AND NON-CORRUPTED GOVERNMENT and LOW COST OF LIVING.
